International Training Course on
Building Efficiency of Utilization of Satellite- Based Information during Emergency Response for CLMV Countries
30th August – 2nd September 2016
Sirindhorn Center for Geo-Informatics (SCGI), Space Krenovation Park, Sri Racha, Thailand
Background and Objectives
As exposure and vulnerability to extreme events in Southeast Asian continue to increase, there is an urgent need to integrate satellite-based information and other data for disaster preparedness and management in Southeast Asia. Additionally, these countries lack sufficient strategies to plan, assess, prevent or mitigate the effects of extreme events based on geo-informatics and satellite information application.
The satellite-based information plays an important role in disaster monitoring and it is proven to be an efficient tool for reducing the disaster impact. To build disaster resilience in the regions needs such advanced technology with low cost and high quality data, as well as human capability building to enhance disaster management.
Objectives
This course will provide a unique opportunity to have knowledge of satellite-based information application and strengthen international cooperation on disaster management for CLMV countries.
